The home's name, An Extra Hour of Sunshine™  , comes from a mid-1930's marketing campaign "one more hour sun".  This campaign’s aim was to encourage Palm Springs' elite to start investing in property just to the south and east where it is said that the sun shines for one hour more than the city of Palm Springs due to the shadows cast by the San Jacinto Mountains.
